Step aboard, let's go fishing!!!!

Come see why Ketchikan is the "Salmon Capital of the World", with a half day of charter fishing.  Ketchikan is one of the major cruiseship stops in Alaska. King Salmon season starts in April and the season finishes up in late September with Cohos and Chum Salmon.

Since Ketchikan was built on a fish creek, travel to the fishing grounds is 20-40 min. away.  Fishing the inside passage is like fishing a lake. I have only had a couple of passengers feel sick and one of those persons was 8 mo. pregnant.

Fishing in a small community has its advantage of knowing other captains in the fleet.  We usually fish the same times since our passengers come off the same ship so we are able to share info. on where the fish are and what's hot for bait, lures and depth.  We also help each other in case of a mishap, which rearly, if ever happens on such short trips. I don't know of anyone who has missed a ship that has fished in our town.

It is a good idea to bring warm clothing and a waterproof jacket.  We supply some raingear, but recommend you bring your own in case you want to tour the town.  Many gift shops sell cheap rain coats.  You can never predict the weather in Ketchikan.

Onboard we supply hot coffee, soft drinks, water, cookies and a sample of smoked salmon.  Feel free to bring food and any beverage of your choice.

As far as your catch is concernd.  We have you fill out a form which will require a ship to address and credit card.  You select the ship date.  You must live in an area where Fedex is available.  You have the choice of plain frozen or smoked frozen.  Onboard we offer the smoked frozen as a sample.  Before you leave your ship, ask your room stewart if you can take back a fish for dinner.  We will clean and bag your fish for take aboard.

Rates are $150.00 per person for 1/2 day salmon charters.  Call for family rates.
